Border Patrol agents are now ‘encountering’ more than 1,000 illegal aliens every day in El Paso Sector amid a historic crisis at the U.S. southern border, according to reports

El Paso Sector, which covers New Mexico and West Texas, typically falls in the mid-range for migrant traffic among Border Patrol’s nine sectors along the southwest land border.

“Migrant encounters are up to 1,000 per day in the El Paso Sector, as border agents continue to find unauthorized foreign nationals in vehicles, stash houses, highway checkpoints, and lying injured in the desert,” according to Border Report.

At least 19 human smuggling attempts were intercepted and nine stash houses were busted in the past week alone.

Additionally, at least 10 migrant rescues were executed during the seven-day stretch.

“These events within the last seven days highlight how complex our border environment has become and the determination by our Border Patrol Agents to adjust operationally as needed to address the present threat while increasing the life and safety of any human being,” El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria I. Chavez said in a statement.

A total of 113,281 migrant encounters were recorded during the first six months of Fiscal Year 2022, an increase of nearly 58 percent over the same period last year.

Fiscal Year 2021 was a record-setting year in El Paso Sector with nearly 194,000 migrant apprehensions.
