I'd even take books home, once in awhile.
I'd pay attention more to those whom I admired,
And try to show a touch of class and style.
I would strive to be successful, go to college for a start.
I'd set some worthwhile goals, and follow through.
I'd rear my kids with love, with patience I would teach,
And lots of praise I'd give them as they grew.
I might strive to be a lawyer, and a politician too.
I'd have a happy home, and never cry.
But that was all a dream, and never meant to be.
Now I'm glad I'm awake, and I AM I.
