Talent
Ken Coons
You can't dance or even paint.
When you are asked for your advice
Your shy fearful heart is faint.
Talent comes in many fashions,
Some you may consider not.
When teachers lovingly instruct,
This rare talent can't be bought.
How about that pot of baked beans
No one else can do as well,
Or needle point that others praise
Or delightful stories you tell?
You are always helping others
Fixing anything that breaks,
Like cars or bikes, or wash machines.
Even tools like garden rakes.
You are always there to comfort
When a friend is sad or blue.
And you don't even realize
How your friends speak well of you.
Wear a smile where e're you wander,
Brighten everybody's day.
You can encourage a lonely heart.
Talents we can all display.
Don't forget the pleasant welcome.
Little things have value too.
You can spread joy in many ways
And it will come back to you.
If you think you have no talent,
You just need a little prod.
So don't forget, we all have gifts,
They were given us from God.
