How Awake Are You?

Smaller Font Larger Font RSS 2.0

On the surface we have the unconscious automatic behavioural pattern.

What you call 'you.'

When we meet, our 'real self' stays hidden and the 'projected false self' is presented to the other.

We then feel shielded and as safe as we can be in the circumstances.

Circumstances?

Without being conscious of the fact, most people are afraid of - most people, most of the time.

On some level, when you meet the 'average person' it feels as though there is competition. At some point, if you are not careful, you will bump up against a position they are holding. (Resistance begets pain.)

When we meet a more conscious person something is very different.

There is an absence of the usual front - fixed personality and character.

They are more present. We can feel it. There is a presence around them.

When we talk to them we feel they are more open - it feels as though they do not have a fixed position. They listen. They are not waiting for you to finish so they can say what they want to say.

You feel as though they respect you for who you are - whoever you are.

There is a feeling that you can share anything with them and they will not contract, get angry, judge. No reaction, just a loving response.

It is like looking into the eyes of a small child.

In one way they seem simple and innocent.

A little observation will show that there is great wisdom there.

There is nothing to push against, or compete with, or argue with.

So usually, people do not push, compete or argue with them. No point.

Sweet - and a deep strength.

So in a way, the more the 'person' is not there, the more the person is there.

Expanded or contracted...
