The Clarity of Our Choice
The Earth is moving ahead,
shedding the chains of bondage
accepted long ago in another sunset
of human opportunity.
The waters of change then rose
over a startled group of ancestors
whose self indulgent myopia
tipped the axis of Earth’s balance.
Great writers of every age portray
the inner compass as the pivot
for harmony, creativity and destiny
yet it is easier for us
to relegate memory to myth
and the Earth to machine,
the human balance sought and lost
again and again while Earth awaited
in the confinement of a planetary patience
the population ignored.
Our place in the heavens has shifted,
the cosmic arrangement of energy and power
realigned and renewed, but the epochal shift
whose drama is revealed in Earth’s temperature
and cataclysmic undulation
will no longer be tempered
for the creatures who refuse to evolve.
Earth is taking Her place,
ascending to a higher throne
like the Queen She is.
The hope of our importance
abides within Her wake.
We have the intelligence and heart
to rise with Her but the question remains:
what will be the direction of our free will
and the clarity of our choice?
