'Atremble with the Quickening
Don Hynes
Atremble with the Quickening
Leaning on the old stones,
listening to the pulse of the Earth,
Her heart is quickening, crossing the threshold
from all that’s been toward what may come,
trembling with the good fear of the unknown,
certain in the timing and power of this delivery.
We are so attentive to our insignificance
we don’t realize how we’ve held Her back,
how the evolution could have flowed more easily,
but like the ministers of old
who stood on the shores of Lemuria and Atlantis,
we will sing our song of Auld Lang Syne
not in defeat or resignation
but welcoming the gifts Gaia will now bring.
We are not apart, not victim or perpetrator
despite the years of soap opera
but creators in our own right
our souls and spirits entwined with the new creation
our own hearts and souls atremble with the quickening
our own new Self the Being that is to emerge.
