That's Impossible: Paradigm Shift (2006)

Paul R. Scheele is the author of the book "PhotoReading" and conducts Learning Strategy seminars around the country. Scheele has developed techniques which he believes can allow you to read 25,000 words per minute. PhotoReading claims that using new techniques you can abandon the "prevailing elementary reading model" and begin using "whole mind reading."

The faculty at a college in Minnesota, where Scheele is based, tried to prevent the PhotoReading seminar from being offered. The professors wanted to cancel the PhotoReading seminar on the grounds "the idea is impossible." A colleague of Scheele's agreed to provide a free demonstration. A volume of U.S. patent law was projected, page by page onto a video monitor at a rate of approximately 30 pages per second, which equals approximately 690,000 words per minute. Scheele's colleague was tested and scored 75 percent comprehension. The colleague also drew approximations of six patent illustrations and correctly identified their numeric sequence. Scheele writes about the naysayer's reaction: "The paradigm had shifted right before their eyes. Do you suppose they supported the seminar and PhotoReading? No. Seeing was not believing. To shift your paradigm you must believe it before you see it."

Many people react with similar disbelief to things that are observed in healing. Apparently we live in a world where protecting our current beliefs is more important than accepting the reality of our current experience.

In "The Holographic Universe," Michael Talbot recalls observations about people with Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD). MPD's give us great insight into the role the mind plays in healing. There are examples where an MPD sufferer has a rash until another of his or her personalities takes over the body, at which point the rash goes away. When the rash-suffering personality takes over again, the rash reappears.

Talbot provides more examples of a MPD individual who has diabetes when one personality is in control, yet there are no symptoms when another personality takes over seconds later. Medical science would argue it takes 120 days for blood sugar levels to change so dramatically, and yet according to Talbot the change in blood sugar levels occurs in an instant. Further, Talbot says there is evidence that MPD people heal faster than normal individuals and don't age as fast. Talbot claims this is due to having one of the personalities "whose sole function is to spend twenty-four hours a day meditating and imaging the body's well-being." Contrast this with most people who don't spend any time doing healing imagery and you begin to understand why consciousness is so important to well being.

Throughout spiritual literature, there are examples of people healing themselves through faith (and what is faith if not consciousness?). Throughout modern times, there are examples of unexplained healings. Modern science rejects these as "anecdotal." If you and I asked the medical community if imparting subtle energetic frequencies to a person's photograph could result in improved spiritual, physical and emotional wellbeing, I'm pretty sure they would say "the idea is impossible."

I was reading the AIM Energetic Balancing testimonial file at EMC². I came across a letter from a father who's adult daughter has Autism. He writes: "My wife and I kept hoping with each passing year that our daughter would mature, but the medical community, as a whole, insisted that her disability would never improve. Within 6 months of being a sacramental participant in the AIM energetic balancing program, our daughter went from speaking in fragmented and incomplete sentences to carrying on meaningful conversations. Last year, our 30 year old daughter played in her room with Care Bears, and this year she talks about marriage and having a place of her own."

Once again, an example that when we apply our Consciousness, the impossible is indeed possible.

In his book, "There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem" Dr. Wayne Dyer makes the following observation: "I have a very strong knowing that there is much in the Universe about energetic balancing that has yet to be touched on. Letting go of the concept of incurable allows you to truly move into the realm of perfect harmonies energy. Recognize your own spiritual perfection and you will come to know the absurdity of anything ever being viewed as impossible."

Indeed, there's no such thing as incurable or impossible. It's important to remember that the word "heal" means "to make whole." Wholeness means "to include everyone and everything without exception." At the point when Life Force flows freely into every area of what you now think of as "your life," you can then turn your attention to removing the obstacles to the flow of Life Force into every area of reality and eliminate the distinction between self and others. This is true healing.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find a way to get your consciousness working on healing full time, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, in order to heal yourself.

As Paul Scheele illustrated, to shift your paradigm you must be open to the possibility. You have a choice as to what to believe. I believe you are powerful enough that an observation made by you instantaneously becomes truth for everyone throughout the universe. You are powerful enough that you have created a body, relationships, possessions, money -- in short, "a life." Therefore you are powerful enough to heal yourself by removing obstructions to the flow of Life Force.

Again and again the Universe repeats this message. Wayne Dyer's book title says, "You'll see it when you believe it" Science of Mind's catch slogan says, "change your thinking, change your life." So, now the question is, what do you believe is possible for yourself, for your family, for the world? If your beliefs are limited and negative then the only meaningful question is "how is that working for you?" If you're not willing to change your mind, then you're looking at Einstein's other powerful theory which was "you cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it."

Perhaps a minor change in Scheele's wording makes it clearer: When you do believe it, you become capable of seeing it. Pearl S. Buck probably said it best. "All things are possible until they are proved impossible and even the impossible may only be so, for a little while."
