(NaturalNews) Natural News readers love the fact that to this very day, we do not run auto-play videos, pop-up ads, pop-under ads, animated ads or other obtrusive, annoying ad units. Now, we're adding something else to that list: No more ads from ad networks!

(This means we also have new opportunities for quality sponsors... see below...)

Ad networks like Google or Doubleclick For Publishers (DFP) track your web surfing behavior and collect profiles of that behavior in order to target you with a barrage of ads. When combined with your search engine history, this data is used by corporations like Google to build shockingly detailed, complex psychological profiles of your private habits, likes and dislikes.

For the last two years, we've been working on a solution here at Natural News to eliminate all ties to ad networks and provide a cleaner, more private and secure website experience for our millions of readers. And now we've done it!

As of one month ago, we successfully eliminated advertising networks for new articles. (We're in the process of transitioning away all the archived articles as well.) In fact, if you search the source code of our article pages, you won't find any references to Google Adsense or other ad networks. (You'll only see references to the Google+ and other social media tags.)

Now, all our ads are served locally, by our own servers, where we maintain full control over those ads and can absolutely eliminate animated ads, auto-play video ads, pop-up ads, etc. Combined with our strict ad quality policies, we now have what many readers consider to be the cleanest, least obtrusive ad system of any major online publisher. (Don't you just HATE auto-play video ads? I do too!)

Ad blockers don't block our ads

Because we no longer use ad networks, nearly all ad blockers no longer block our ads. Ad blockers are rapidly rising in popularity across the 'net for good reason: Most websites throw an obscene number of intrusive, annoying ads onto their pages, practically assaulting visitors with so much garbage that you can hardly navigate their sites. (Washington Times, anyone?)

But here at Natural News, we only serve static ads from our own quality controlled local servers, so most ad blockers don't block our ads.

For sponsors wishing to reach a quality audience, this is a real breakthrough in online advertising. And for readers who want a quality, respectful article browsing experience, we deliver that, too!

We've totally eliminated inappropriate ads that used to slip through

Because we've also ditched all ad networks, we have simultaneously eliminated all inappropriate ads that used to slip through those networks.

For example, from time to time some network would show a pharmaceutical ad to some readers. Even though we systematically blocked pharma ads, new ones would always creep into the mix despite our best efforts to eliminate them. But under our new system, such annoying ads are a thing of the past.

New opportunities for sponsors

Now that our new "homegrown" ad system is fully in place, we have new advertising opportunities for sponsors... and a whole new ad department to handle ad placement.

Ad placement is also much simpler now: Instead of buying impressions, sponsors reserve calendar placements on the site's ad spots.

It gets even better: We've also rolled out our new ad system across all the website properties we publish, including NaturalNews.com, Bugout.news, Twisted.news and dozens of other sites that are all growing in popularity.

This is all controlled from one central coordination system that I personally designed and had engineered over the last 18 months. The system scales to an almost unlimited number of new websites, which is a good thing since we're launching another 100 sites (or so) this year.

Your privacy is protected at Natural News

Now that we've eliminated all ad networks from our website, large online advertising networks can no longer track your surfing behavior on our websites.

This is a huge deal for your privacy and protection, and I believe it's the wave of the future when it comes to online surfing and advertising.

Online readers do NOT want to be snooped on by ad networks while reading articles! And we've taken determined steps to eliminate those ad networks for good.

So enjoy reading Natural News, and know that we are constantly working to protect your privacy while respecting your web browsing experience.

No wonder Natural News continues to grow by leaps and bounds! (Facebook likes are up to almost 1.7 million and growing daily...)
