Ralph Northam

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam is at the center of one of the biggest controversies in American politics.

His scandals threaten to not only destroy his career, but also bring down the entire Democrat Party in 2020.

And then all hell broke loose when Northam stood in front of the media and made this announcement.

Northam’s week of controversies kicked off when he went on a local radio show and endorsed legislation that would have allowed abortionists to kill babies after they were born alive.

“If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired,” Northam stated.

Americans could not believe that a doctor – who took an oath to never bring harm to a patient – could advocate killing a born-alive infant just because it had a birth defect.

Every national Democrat ran for cover to avoid commenting on Northam’s defense of infanticide.

That’s because they know there is no defending the morally indefensible position of killing babies outside the womb, but that also speaking out against this ghoulish practice would destroy their hopes of winning a Democrat primary.

Amazingly, things only went downhill from there.

48 hours later, Big League Politics broke a story with a photo obtained from Northam’s medical school yearbook page of a man appearing in blackface and another dressed in Ku Klux Klan robes.

At first, Northam apologized for appearing in the photo – although he did not say whether he was the one in blackface or Ku Klux Klan robes – with a written statement and a video posted to social media.

“My fellow Virginians, earlier today I released a statement apologizing for behavior in my past that falls far short of the standard you set for me when you elected me to be your governor. I believe you deserve to hear directly from me,” Northam wrote.

My fellow Virginians, earlier today I released a statement apologizing for behavior in my past that falls far short of the standard you set for me when you elected me to be your governor. I believe you deserve to hear directly from me.

However, this was not the first evidence of Northam’s racism.

In a 2013 Lieutenant Governor debate, Northam refused to shake the hand of E.W. Jackson, Northam’s black Republican opponent.

Following Northam’s statements made Friday night, the Virginia Democrat scheduled a Saturday press conference where it was widely expected he would resign.

But that’s when the story took an unbelievable turn.

After apologizing for appearing in the photo, Northam began to back-track.

The Virginia Democrat said he could not remember appearing in the photo and that the picture was possibly put on his yearbook page by mistake.

That was just the beginning of an already shocking day.

Northam then denied being the man in blackface because he could clearly remember the other time he had donned blackface.

Northam explained that he had once darkened his face with shoe polish to perform a Michael Jackson routine in a dance contest which he eventually won.

“I had the shoes. I had a glove. And I used just a little bit of shoe polish to put on my cheeks and the reason I used a very little bit because – I don’t know if anyone’s ever tried that – you cannot get shoe polish off,” Northam inexplicably told reporters. “I had always liked Michael Jackson. I actually won the contest because I had learned to do the moonwalk.”

But Northam refuses to resign.

Now Democrats – both in Virginia and nationally – are stuck with Northam during the 2020 Presidential elections.

He will be an albatross hovering over the party as long as he remains in office.
