Amazon.com ad for pro-pedophilia book

Customers are furious with online giant Amazon.com for selling a pro-pedophilia book on the corporate Kindle website.

Hundreds of Amazon shoppers have left messages on the website expressing outrage and disgust, with many calling for a boycott. Others are threatening to stop shopping at Amazon as long as "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure," by Phillip Greaves, remains on the virtual bookshelf.

"There is no excuse for Amazon to be offering this product," wrote one customer. "It clearly promotes an illegal activity and it is offensive. I've removed my Amazon shop from my website and won't be doing any Christmas or household shopping through Amazon.com until this product is GONE.""

"HORRIFIC !!! Not spending a penny on Amazon until this book is removed !!!" wrote another.

"As a mother of a child who has been molested," wrote a third customer, "shame on Amazon for allowing such garbage to be sold on its site. The author of this book is a predator and should never have been allowed to write or promote this trash ... How many children will be assaulted because of this? Amazon, take it off your site."

"Say hello to the fallout of the sexual revolution," said Dr. Judith Reisman, an expert on pedophilia and pornography. "You cannot destroy Judeo-Christian morality and expect children to be allowed their innocence."

Amazon.com has not yet responded to WND's requests for comment.

According to a report by Business Insider, Amazon has refused to stop selling the book in spite of the flood of complaints.

Several customers report receiving an email from Amazon defending the sale of the book:

"This is their response to me: 'As a retailer, our goal is to provide customers with the broadest selection possible so they can find, discover, and buy any item they might be seeking. That selection includes some items which many people may find objectionable. Therefore, the items offered on our website represent a wide spectrum of opinions on a variety of topics.

'Let me assure you that Amazon.com does not support or promote hatred or criminal acts; we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchasing decisions.

'Amazon.com believes it is censorship not to sell certain titles because we believe their message is objectionable. Therefore, we'll continue to make controversial works available in the United States and everywhere else, except where they're prohibited by law. We also allow readers, authors, and publishers to express their views freely about these titles and other products we offer on our website. However, Amazon.com doesn't endorse opinions expressed by individual authors, musical artists, or filmmakers.'"

"This has nothing to do with the First Amendment," an indignant customer retorted. "Child molestation is illegal, or haven't the folks at Amazon heard? By allowing this garbage to stay on the site, Amazon is supporting and facilitating child molestation. Boycott Amazon."

Amazon.com was threatened with legal action in 2002 for selling another book supportive of pedophilia, as WND reported at the time. The California-based United States Justice Foundation accused Amazon of "contributing to the potential rape and molestation of children" through its online sale of "Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers," by David L. Riegel.

USJF attorneys were not available to comment about Amazon's new product.

In the Amazon website product description, author Philip Greaves asserted that his purpose in writing the book, in part, was to protect children involved in "pedophile situations":

"This is my attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certain rules for these adults to follow. I hope to achieve this by appealing to the better nature of pedosexuals, with hope that their doing so will result in less hatred and perhaps lighter sentences should they ever be caught."

A small number of reviewers defended the book, and Amazon's decision to sell it.

"Since none of you will read the book before voicing your opinion, I, as the only person here who knows what it actually contains, will give my own review," wrote a supporter. "It is actually a very good and well-reasoned book on the true nature of pedophilia, the child-lover and society's attack against the innocent. Its purpose is the safety of all children and the honest representation of the average pedophile. Advice is given for the safety of those children that find themselves involved in pedosexual relations, as well as suggestions to help pedophiles refocus and redirect their sexual urges toward more acceptable outlets."
