D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser refuses to investigate the gruesome late-term abortions recently discovered in the District. She has disregarded a letter from 23 members of Congress asking for an investigation into the deaths of the five children. These babies appear to have been born alive before being murdered or subjected to partial-birth abortion in our nation's capital. The photos of their battered bodies are gut wrenching.

This mayor’s response proves that abortion-surviving infants do not have protections and underscores how critical it is to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (Born Alive Act) to stop this evil.

The Born Alive Act already has 204 co-sponsors in the House and 46 in the Senate (HR 619 and S 123). With so many co-sponsors already on board, we only need a few more supporters from each chamber to pass the Born Alive Act. Send faxes and demand justice. — Mat

Sen. James Lankford sent a letter to the D.C. mayor and police asking seven questions, including: “In order to ensure that no child was subjected to a partial birth abortion and that no child was born alive and left to die, will you commit to conducting a thorough investigation of the death of each child?”

Of course, she won’t. In January 2017, Mayor Bowser spoke to the pro-abortion “Women’s March” wearing the group’s offensive hat and led the crowd in the chant “Leave us alone!” Now she wants the nation to leave the abortionists alone while they continue to slaughter children.

Medical experts who have examined these five late-term aborted babies have raised shocking concerns. Here’s what one doctor said: 

“There appears to be an incision at the base of the skull, and the head has been decompressed by removing the brain. This is consistent with an Intact D&E [dilation and evacuation] or D&X [dilation and extraction]. If the baby was alive at the start of this procedure, it would be considered a Partial Birth Abortion and would be illegal.”

Partial-birth abortion is a federal crime. Yet, Mayor Bowser is more interested in going after the pro-lifers who obtained the bodies from the waste company than the abortion facility that murdered these babies.

This sickening reality in D.C. should be enough to stop our legislators in their tracks. It is time to stop giving mayors and governors the ability to overlook murder. It is time to demand these crimes be investigated and prosecuted at the federal level to end this injustice. There is a path forward; we are not powerless. The Constitution grants Congress exclusive jurisdiction over the District of Columbia in “all cases whatsoever.”

Congress does not have to endlessly wait on this mayor for justice; it has the authority to investigate these crimes directly.

The despicable murder of babies who have survived abortion has been happening for decades. I represent Sandra Merritt, the grandmother who recorded some of the undercover videos that exposed abortion facilities intentionally breech-birthing babies and dissecting them while they are still alive.

One abortionist was clear, as she ate lunch in a restaurant, about her financial motive for harvesting baby body parts. She said, “I want a Lamborghini!” This callous doctor haggled over the price to charge for these aborted baby’s lungs, livers, thymus glands, hearts and brains. The video is sickening to watch.

Another Planned Parenthood doctor, Dr. Nucatola, said while sipping wine and eating a salad, “So then you’re just kind of cognizant of where you put your graspers, you try to intentionally go above and below the thorax, so that, you know, we’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m going to basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact. And with the calvarium, in general, some people will actually try to change the presentation so that it’s not vertex, because when it’s vertex presentation, you never have enough dilation at the beginning of the case, unless you have real, huge amount of dilation to deliver an intact calvarium. So if you do it starting from the breech presentation, there’s dilation that happens as the case goes on, and often, the last, you can evacuate an intact calvarium at the end … And, we’ve been pretty successful with that, I’d say.”

The injustice that Sandra Merritt exposed continues, even in our nation’s capital. It must stop!
