LOWVILLE (AP) -- State police say a 5-year-old child tipped off investigators that his parents were smoking marijuana in their upstate New York home.

Now 27-year-old Ryan Clement and 26-year-old Jill Homan of New Bremen are charged with endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful possession of marijuana.

The boy told police that his parents smoked marijuana in the house in front of him and his two siblings, ages 2 and 1. Police found the parents' stash when they searched the house.

Investigator William Campeau says the child's revelation came during an investigation by county child protective services workers.

Clement is in the Lewis County jail on $1,000 bail. Homan is to appear later for her arraignment.
