Washington DC --(Ammoland.com)-  On August 23 2014, an 89-year-old World War II veteran grabbed an armed robber’s gun, then pulled out his own gun and wrestled with the suspect before shooting him six times.

The veteran, Arthur M. Lewis, was working at his Lake Park, Florida, jewelry store around 3 p.m when Lennard Patrick Jervis allegedly entered the store with a revolver.

The Palm Beach Postreports that Lewis “immediately grabbed the suspect’s revolver and pulled out a .38 caliber handgun from his own pocket.” The men then “wrestled for several minutes and fired shots at each other” from close range.

The WWII veteran’s “left arm was grazed by a bullet,” but he received no other injuries. Jervis “was shot six times … including four times in the chest.”

Jervis stumbled to the front door and asked Lewis to buzz him out, which Lewis did. The suspect then climbed into an SUV that was waiting for him outside. The driver, Raven Simone Hill, was afraid Jervis wouldn’t live long enough to make it to a hospital in Miami, so “she stopped and asked for assistance from the Boca Raton Police Department.”

Afterwards, “Jervis was taken to Delray Medical Center and is expected to survive.” He will be arrested once he is discharged and “is expected to face charges of armed robbery to a business, felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and armed burglary.”

Hill was charged with “armed robbery for driving the getaway car.”
