Police & public explain why they surrendered their guns for $100 grocery cards (photos & video of June 1st gun buyback)

Today June 1st, police departments across Southern California are holding so-called "gun buy back" programs in San Bernardino County. People planning to turn in their guns for grocery store cards should seriously reconsider this. City Attorney Jim Penman of Bankrupt San Bernardino, CA recently warned residents to "LOCK OUR DOORS AND LOAD YOUR GUNS," since murder rates are rising, crime is rampant and police can't protect you. (Watch video below). Sheriff David Clarke of Milwaukee Wisconsin issued a similar warning in January 2013, cautioning residents to "Arm yourself, we might not get there in time."

Also consider the numerous quotes in favor of keeping your guns. There are not only quotes from current politicians, but from the founding fathers and also from the Bible. So in sum, there are numerous societal, Constituional, and Scriptural reasons not to turn in your guns. Are you SERIOUSLY planning to turn in your firearm for donuts, milk and potato chips? That is insanity. Tyrants have always wanted to disarm the people. How about growing your own food and keeping your own guns! Don't be a silly slave and disarm yourself.

During the infamous Chris Dorner manhunt earlier this year In San Bernardino County, the Mayor of Bg Bear Lake said that "residents not panicked, they’re armed".

Below are the locations of Southern California's gun buyback program on Saturday June 1st. Protest of these events and education of residents is encouraged.

CONSIDER THESE POWERFUL QUOTES AGAINST TURNING IN YOUR GUNS

"When a strong man fully armed guards his palace, his possessions are safe". Luke 11:21

"A free people ought not only to be armed but disciplined" George Washington

"To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them." - George Mason, George Mason, 3 Elliot, Debates at 380 (Mason is considered the "Father of the United States Bill of Rights.")

"The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." -- (Thomas Jefferson)

"The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed." (Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers at 184-8)

"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms." (James Madison, The Federalist Papers #46 at 243-244)

"The great object is that every man be armed" and "everyone who is able may have a gun." (Patrick Henry, in the Virginia Convention on the ratification of the Constitution. Debates and other Proceedings of the Convention of Virginia,...taken in shorthand by David Robertson of Petersburg,

"Though defensive violence will always be 'a sad necessity' in the eyes of men of principle, it would be still more unfortunate if wrongdoers should dominate just men." - St. Augustine

"Without doubt one is allowed to resist against the unjust aggressor to one's life, one's goods or one's physical integrity; sometimes, even 'til the aggressor’s death.... In fact, this act is aimed at preserving one's life or one’s goods and to make the aggressor powerless. Thus, it is a good act, which is the right of the victim." St. Thomas Aquinas

The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able may have a gun." Patrick Henry

"Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will plow for those who do not." Thomas Jefferson, Third President of the United States

"The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed" Thomas Jefferson letter to Justice John Cartwright, June 5, 1824.

"The best we can help for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed." Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers at 184-8

"The ruling class doesn't care about public safety. Having made it very difficult for States and localities to police themselves, having left ordinary citizens with no choice but to protect themselves as best they can, they now try to take our guns away. In fact they blame us and our guns for crime. This is so wrong that it cannot be an honest mistake." -Malcolm Wallop, former U.S. Sen. (R-WY)

"An armed man is a citizen. A disarmed man is a subject." Anon.

Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence ... From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that is good" (George Washington)

Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined" (Patrick Henry, 3 J. Elliot, Debates in the Several State Conventions 45, 2d ed. Philadelphia, 1836)

"Jesus said, 'But now whoever has a purse or a bag, must take it and whoever does not have a sword must sell his cloak and buy one.'" - Luke 22:36

City which warned "lock your doors and load your guns" to hold massive gun buyback program to disarm residents

Protest 'Gun Buyback' Programs , slated across Southern California on June 1st

A Crime-ridden City which had previously warned residents to "lock their doors and load their guns" is among those participating in a massive County-wide 'gun buyback' program slated for Saturday, June 1st. The buyback scheduled in Southern California will be held by various law enforcement agencies at supermarket locations across San Bernardino County.

These events are becoming increasingly common across California and the U.S, where people generally get anywhere from $50 to $200 or grocery cards for their discarded weapon. Those who value the second Amendment should protest such events, and educate the public about the importance of the right to bear arms. This article is not about an organized protest, but rather a suggestion for pro-2nd Amendment individuals or gun groups to protest as they see fit. The concept of leaderless resistance applies here.

Here is the PDF of the event from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

The countywide Gun Buyback Program will reward voluntary surrender of firearms, while engaging our communities towards a common goal of reducing gun violence. It is an anonymous process in which individuals can surrender their weapons, no questions asked.

Weapons should be unloaded and transported in the trunk or rear area of the vehicle. There is no limit to the amount of firearms that can be turned in by individuals. Persons will be given a $50.00 gift card for inoperable weapons; up to $100.00 in gift cards for hand guns, shotguns and rifles; and up to $200.00 in gift cards for assault weapons (as classified in the State of California). All gift cards will be for Stater Bros. Markets throughout the county.

Once a firearm is surrendered to the Gun Buy Back Program it becomes property of the law enforcement agency and will not be returned. Funding for this program was provided by California State, Proposition 30 - Schools and Local Public Safety Protection Act of 2012.

Stater Brothers, the Colton based Supermarket chain which is hosting the event, has long been considered a staple in Southern California, offering quality products at a reasonable price. They have been lauded in the past for being one of the few chains that have not resorted to implementing the grocery shopper 'savings cards' program, which Dr. Katherine Albrecht of NoCards.org points out is nothing but a deceptive scheme to track, database, and sell your personal information. It's a shame that Stater Brothers has decided to join forces with the regime to promote citizen disarmament.

San Bernardino has made national news quite a bit in recent years. In 2008, InfoWars.com reported Marine "Military Presence" Confirmed in San Bernardino County, noting "As we reported yesterday, the Marine Corps Air and Ground Combat Center has dispatched uniformed and presumably armed (we have no confirmation of the latter) soldiers to assist the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in the operation of unconstitutional sobriety checkpoints in San Bernardino County, California, the largest county in California and the country (San Bernardino County is directly east of Los Angeles)."

San Bernardino City Attorney Jim Penman caused quite a stir in 2012 when he told 150 people at a city council meeting to "lock their doors and load their guns", due to the fact that the city is in bankruptcy, has a high murder rate, and recently had to lay off 80 police officers. CBS2 reported "The city attorney said it's important for people to be smart about protecting themselves and their families." It's beyond ironic that a County such as San Bernardino would encourage people to ditch their guns while at the same time their own officials are warning people to arm and protect themselves.

Residents of San Bernardino County need to protect not only their home and family, but their pocketbook, from the revenue schemes such as the red-light camera fraud which San Bernardino practiced for years, fleecing people for millions of dollars. The City of San Bernardino quiety shut down their red-light camera program in December 2012, but conveniently neglected to make any announcement of the cancellation. This was presumably so that those already ticketed would pay their fines instead of pleading not guilty in court. The excellent Anti-cam website HighwayRobbery.net discovered the program cancellation after a public records request and alerted LibertyFight.com to the development.

Upland, one of the cities taking part in June's gun buyback program, has had their own share of problems with gun advocates. In May 2012 the city settled a lawsuit with two open-carry advocates after being sued for illegaly detaining the men and seizing their weapons. As we reported at the time, open-carry activists Christopher Hacopian of Ontario and Scott Gibb of Adelanto, filed a federal civil rights lawsuit alleging the city violated the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Amendments by illegally detaining, searching them and recording their firearm serial numbers. The interaction was recorded by Hacopian.

The contentious exchange includes several must-see videos and audio recordings, with officers saying things such as "don't play games with me" and "what part of this don't you understand", while an indignant Hacopian relentlessly defends his rights and demands his firearm back. Officer Duran of Upland PD, who is featured prominently in the video, makes an astonisihing admission upon questioning to Hacopian, stating "No, I don't believe in transparency of government". Despite the fact that the Upland Police Chief later admitted that the officers were wrong and needed retraining on the matter, Upland officers at the time insisted "knuckleheads ruin open carry policy", that the two men were "not cooperating", and "there are certain rules you need to follow".

Despite the fact that police promise "No questions asked" at gun buyback programs, police in Los Angeles recently arrested a man at such an event after he attempted to turn in a weapon which police deemed was illegal.

Below are links to several stories where gun advocats have protest these gun buyback protests and in some cases, competed with police in a bidding war to buy unwanted guns from members of the public who came to the event up to turn them in.
