III Arms: Model 1911 prototype
The III Arms 1911s being built would retail from any custom shop for $2,500 - $3,000. Those are not "fantasy numbers" -- those are the numbers given by the master gunsmiths who are building our prototypes. We are not building Rock River or even modest SAs. But they'll be priced well under $2000. The first guns will be more expensive than later guns (NOT more than $2K!), and the prices will come down as we move more and more operations in-house under our own roof.
We designed a 1911 specifically for carrying out the front door with full knowledge you may have to defend your life, and price should be the last consideration when deciding which pistol you will reach for every single time your life is in danger.
Right now, these are prototypes. Our reason for building these is to get hands-on feedback, and to get opinion of what you'd like to see on a fighting weapon. We took "standard" and added what we thought were common changes based upon observations out there in the wild. As these make the rounds at gun shows and out in the community as evaluation pieces, we will be asking questions and getting input as to what changes you'd make.
While we can't anticipate every end-user's custom requirements, we can produce weaponry that comes with a bit more than standard as a base for you to work with. Remember, these are fighting weapons, which differ a bit from competition shooters and safe queens.
Prototype Features: Low profile 3 dot sights, lowered and flared ejection port, ambi & extended safety, beavertail, bobbed hammer, beveled mag well. The pistols are specifically designed to go bang! every time you pull the trigger, no matter what. And it will be the rare hundgunner who can out-shoot these pistols in terms of accuracy.
