Revisiting the Supreme Court marriage case

In a case we represent, two U.S. Supreme Court Justices just voiced strong opposition to the destructive position that the legalization of "same-sex marriage" has put people of faith in, in America. They publicly invited cases to come to the Court to fix the mess the Court created in 2015!

The way radicals are attacking business owners, government employees, artists, and people seeking to live out their faith in public is completely opposed to the religious freedoms our nation was founded upon.

We can restore freedom of religion and speech with Judge Amy Coney Barrett. But we cannot wait. In less than a month the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on whether the government can force Christian adoption agencies to violate their religious beliefs or permanently close their doors. We need "Justice Barrett" on the High Court immediately to end the erosion of our religious freedom.

Right now, radicals are using every tool in their book to fight against her confirmation. I'll share more below, but it's so important to act now. Send your urgent fax to senators persuading them to not lose heart in this fierce battle for the future of our nation. - Mat

Even before a single vote on Judge Barrett, radicals are vocally fundraising and turning their attention to defeating Republicans not only in the 2020 election, but also in the 2022 election. They are setting their focus on the four states of Florida, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Ohio.

Last time around, with Justice Kavanaugh, radicals set up a campaign slush-fund and raised 4 million dollars with the goal to oust Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) for her support of his confirmation. Currently she is trailing in the polls and is refusing to vote for Judge Barrett.

This is why our senators need to hear from you. They need encouragement right now to vote for Judge Barrett. They need to be reminded that it is worth fighting millions of dollars of special-interest groups in their next election because you are standing with them. This is their moral and political responsibility.

One of the most powerful things a voter can do is come alongside those who are fighting for our freedom, recognize their efforts and stand in support of their work. That is what you can do with your urgent fax to the Senate right away.

Radicals are loudly arguing that Judge Barrett's confirmation cannot be held during a pandemic. But the reality is that the Senate has been holding a mix of online and in-person hearings for months now.

COVID-19 is not a legitimate reason to hold up Judge Barrett's hearing.

But if we do not encourage our senators to stand strong in the face of this onslaught of attacks, this could be one of several excuses that senators use to back away from their responsibility to fill the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court. Act now to make your voice heard.

Two days ago, Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito wrote that the 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling on same-sex marriage has caused a "cavalier treatment of religion." They said my client, KY Clerk Kim Davis "may have been one of the first victims," but Justice Thomas continued, "she will not be the last." He said:

In Obergefell v. Hodges, the Court read a right to same-sex marriage into the Fourteenth Amendment, even though that right is found nowhere in the text. Several Members of the Court noted that the Court's decision would threaten the religious liberty of the many Americans who believe that marriage is a sacred institution between one man and one woman... Worse still, though it briefly acknowledged that those with sincerely held religious objections to same-sex marriage are often "decent and honorable," the Court went on to suggest that those beliefs espoused a bigoted worldview... The dissenting Justices predicted that "[t]hese . . . assaults on the character of fair-minded people will have an effect, in society and in court," allowing "governments, employers, and schools" to "vilify" those with these religious beliefs "as bigots." Those predictions did not take long to become reality. (citations removed)

We need Judge Barrett on the Court. She is not a judicial activist like the late Justice Ginsburg, who was always on the wrong side of religious liberty and life. Judge Barrett has a history of adhering to the original words and intent of the Constitution. There is no right to abortion or same-sex marriage in that document. Our senators have the right and responsibility to fill this seat. Encourage them to avoid delays by sending your fax now.

Our Liberty Counsel Action staff members on Capitol Hill are in public events and private meetings to promote this vote on Judge Barrett. We are working closely with our contacts and members of the Senate to support this confirmation.

I want you to know that I am deeply grateful to you because your support is the only way we can be in D.C. to fight these battles on your behalf. With the Lord's help, and yours, we can win the battle set before us today.

Help us educate our leaders on the importance of boldly moving forward now with your donation to Liberty Counsel Action.

Thank you for standing with me today.

Sincerely,

Mat Staver

Chairman

P.S. The Senate needs to hear from you right now. Encourage them to move forward confidently in the face of the radicals' wrath. Send your faxes to the Senate urging them to take action now on Judge Barrett.

Then sign our petition to members of the U.S. Senate. We will hand deliver it to those who are wavering on their support for Judge Barrett.

Our adversaries are flush with tens of millions of dollars that were instantly raised following the Supreme Court vacancy. But we have a powerful God who can use what you can give to help fight this critical battle. Please support our ministry with your best gift possible to help us win at the Supreme Court. God bless.
