Bring Rhinos Back from the Brink

We are in real danger of losing Africa's wild rhinos forever.

South Africa is considering a disastrous proposal to legalize the rhino horn trade -- a reckless move that could increase demand for rhino horn and fuel more illegal rhino killings.

NRDC is racing to expose the South African plan for what it is -- a dangerous, get-rich-quick scheme that threatens to push rhinos over the brink. But we need your help to wage and win this fight.

Please make an emergency donation to help ramp up NRDC's World Rhino Action Plan -- and protect Africa's last wild rhinos from extinction.

Save Rhinos Now

Rhinos can't wait. Each year, more than 1,000 of these magnificent animals are brutally killed by poachers.

Your tax-deductible gift will enable us to:

  • Build a strong coalition of leading rhino experts and scientists that will testify to the riskiness of South Africa's proposal before that nation hosts this year's all-important CITES meeting, which could well decide the rhino's fate
  • Deliver the damning facts about the rhino horn trade to international delegates attending the CITES meeting
  • Work with China -- one of the world's largest markets for poached rhino horn -- to reduce demand. NRDC has already partnered with the Chinese government on a landmark plan to phase out the market for elephant ivory
  • Send our own team of NRDC wildlife experts to the South African talks, where they will wage a rapid response operation to ensure that lifesaving rhino protections remain in place

Your support will help us fight on all these fronts at once and defend our environment in the most effective way possible.

The clock is ticking. The weeks ahead will be our only chance to win this fight for rhinos and stop any South African push for legalization.

Please lend your generous support today to help NRDC give wild rhinos a fighting chance at survival. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Rhea
