Help Us Help Them
ur fight to protect the Sheldon Mustangs from slaughter has been a long one. We were successful in removing J&S (notoriuos contractor that was found to be placing mustangs in jeopardy). We were successful in gaining access to last years removal of Sheldon Mustangs that has historically occurred in secret.
This year we face the next step in Sheldon "zeroing out" the existing population of "America's war horse." We are still awaiting an official announcement from the Refuge on placement of mustangs this year and plans moving forward for those that will evade capture or move into Sheldon from adjoining BLM land in coming years.
We are confirmed to work with the contractor taking mares and foals. The same contractor that took mares and foals last year and rescued foals in 2012 that were in dire need in 2012, Phyllis Strecker.
We are prepared to take the most vulnerable, the smallest of the foals and their moms or those too compromised to make a long haul. But we need your help to do it.
We are not under contract and will receive no federal funds. We must purchase hay, that is not easy to find in the current climate. We must have supplies on hand to provide supplements and appropriate care.
We have set up a page to explain our effort and where you can donate. We must secure hay by the end of next week. We will only be able to help as many as we an prepare for.
