The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is preparing a new five-year (2017-2022) offshore oil and gas leasing program that would include development in the remote and sensitive environment of the Arctic Ocean. For the next two weeks, BOEM is accepting public comments on this plan.

Tell BOEM that you oppose reckless offshore drilling in the Arctic Ocean and its terrible risks.

The oil industry lacks the ability to safely drill in this unforgiving environment, and a major oil spill would endanger polar bears, seals and other marine mammals. A spill in this icy ocean would also devastate Alaska’s northern coast, which is heavily used by indigenous people, bears, caribou and migratory birds.

The Arctic can’t be protected without your help. Please take a moment to let BOEM know that the Arctic Ocean is too important to be sacrificed to unsafe drilling.
