TWO MUSTANG MARES SAVED FROM SLAUGHTER JUST IN TIME!

Thanks to generous donations from our friends

Just a quick note to our email supporters who made the emergency rescue of these two mustangs possible. With only two days to raise the funds before they were sent to slaughter we reached our goal of $2300 and then some. The funds were used immediately to purchase the mares from the killer feedlot, have a vet do blood tests and health papers needed for travel across state lines, and pay for their transportation from Nevada to California. Additional funds received will be used for their ongoing feed and care.

Chica and Lola arrived late Saturday night in good shape. They are both very sweet mares, gentle and curious. Right now they are spending a few days in quarantine to make sure they didn't bring any illness with them that could infect our other horses.

Soon they will be assessed for training and adoption. They are very bonded to each other and I suspect they may be a mother and daughter. Chica has a BLM freezebrand, Lola does not which leads me to believe she was born in captivity.

Lola will get her hooves trimmed soon.

Chica needs a manicure too.

I am so grateful to everyone who gave to this rescue effort and saved the lives of these precious mustang mares. They are now safe and will never be in danger of that horrible death by slaughter. I hope this update brings you a little holiday cheer!
