We have 90 days to win the fight of our lives.

On June 13, the proposal to delist nearly all gray wolves across the U.S. appeared in the Federal Register. That legally started the clock on a 90-day public comment period.

We need to use these 90 days to make history.

Please support our emergency 90-day campaign to defeat the proposed delisting of wolves.

Our goal is simple and straightforward. We need to make the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service understand that Americans love wolves and are prepared to do whatever it takes to keep them protected.

Part of our plan includes:

  • Organizing grassroots action around public hearings. Those who would abandon wolves need to hear from concerned Americans. Defenders will be organizing, mobilizing and empowering supporters to attend public hearings and speak out against this misguided plan.
  • Providing a public platform for concerned scientists. Many of the same scientists whose research has been used to justify the delisting have publicly contested this decision. These reputable wildlife scientists strongly oppose this delisting and are speaking out against the Obama administration's disregard for the science behind this proposal.
  • Motivating Americans to speak up for wolves. Americans believe wolves deserve a place in our country and we're encouraging our supporters to speak out! Whether it's submitting public comments, attending public hearings or rallying their communities, Defenders will continue to activate and engage wildlife lovers across the country to speak out for these animals who can't speak for themselves.

We Can't Afford to Lose

If this ill-advised plan goes forward, decades of hard-won wolf conservation progress will be severely undermined, and the future of gray wolf conservation will be forever changed. Federal protections would be stripped even in states like Colorado, which has excellent wolf habitat and yet not a single wolf.

Please donate today – support our work to protect wolves and other imperiled wildlife.

Wolf recovery still has a long way to go. What should be one of America's greatest endangered species comeback stories could become a heartbreaking setback.

We have seen what happens when premature delisting puts wolves at the mercy of rabid anti-wolf politics and politicians who are unwilling to protect them. In Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, more than 1,100 wolves have been killed since losing federal protection in 2011. Wolf recovery has a very long way to go before we can take a step back.

It's not too late. We sincerely hope that the FWS will abandon this misguided plan if the American people continue to send the message: Wolf recovery is far from over and we'll stop at nothing to protect these magnificent creatures!

We have 90 days to turn it around. Please help today.

Sincerely,

Jamie Rappaport Clark, Defenders of Wildlife
