NEWS FROM THE RANCH

Our new monthly newsletter to keep you connected...

Currently in the news...

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration currently bans the presence of 379 common equine drugs in animals slaughtered for human consumption. However, there is no procedure in place to ensure that American horses sold to slaughterhouses and killed for human consumption are free of these FDA-banned substances. The Safeguard American Food Exports (SAFE) Act (S.541/H.R.1094), would not only ban the slaughter of horses for human consumption in the United States but would also prohibit shipping horses outside of the States for food slaughter. Unlike the appropriations rider that had prevented horse slaughter until now, the statutory ban would NOT expire. The sponsors are Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Lindsey Graham (R-SC) in the Senate and Representative Patrick Meehan (R-PA) and Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) in the House. Please urge your senators and representatives to co-sponsor the Safeguard American Food Exports (SAFE) Act.

Training and Adoption Program - T.A.P.

Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue is excited to implement a new horse training program that will utilize the skills of accomplished horse trainers who have the ability to train, and then place horses in to good homes outside of our local adoption market area. Our new program is called Training and Adoption Partners, or TAP Program. Each horse that finds a new forever home opens up a space for the next horse that needs to be rescued. Our program will offer experienced natural horsemanship trainers in and around California the opportunity to earn income from training Lifesavers rescued horses and finding them responsible and appropriate new homes. To read more about it please visit our website

Forever Wild

We are developing a new program to help memorialize your loved ones in a unique way. Our Forever Wild program will allow families to scatter the ashes of their loved ones, either human or animal, at our sanctuary and place a marker on the spot they were released. We have already done this for our own family member and it was quite moving. Another long time supporter recently came and scattered the ashes of his wife. It was a beautiful ceremony and he was blessed by a visit from a bird on the exact spot he released her ashes. Feel free to contact us for more information on this loving tribute.

Wild Horse Boot Camp

We are so excited that our Wild Horse Boot Camp is SOLD OUT for 2013! Our participants will learn wild horse gentling techniques from Donna West, Angi Skye Dawn Murray and Jenna Nelson. These events are always amazing and we are looking forward to this coming Memorial Day weekend.
