Dedicated to saving abandoned, abused, neglected and slaughter bound horses through Sanctuary, Healing, Adoption, Rescue and Education programs: S.H.A.R.E.

Dear Friend,

This is the time of year when you are very very busy.  You are wrapping gifts for your family and loved ones.  You are planning parties.  You are decorating your home to celebrate this season of giving and love.  I get it!  You don't have a lot of time to even read this letter....

So I'll cut to the chase.

Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue is one of your fondest charities - if we weren't, you  wouldn't be receiving this email.  I want you to know that I appreciate you for all you have done for us this year and years past.

Now I need to ask you to do more.  Possibly more than you have before, because we have more than 500 horses...Rescued Horses...Horses that were destined for the most cruel death you could ever imagine, but were saved by the generosity of you and the commitment of Lifesavers.  Now that all the horses are safe from harm, they need to be safe in another way.  We need to keep them safe and healthy and comfortable.  That is a huge responsibility when you are talking about over 500 individual lives.

Just to feed each horse the bare minimum costs about $75 per month. Now multiply that by 500 and what do we get? $37,500 every month.  That's crazy, but true.  And then we need to add in the cost of the other type of care such as veterinarian, hoof care, even the cost of keeping their corrals free of manure, and their troughs full of fresh clean water.  Then there is the cost of training so they can find suitable homes where they can be loved and made part of a family.  And you must know that is an absolute necessary goal for us - so little by little we can reduce the enormous amount that we spend every month, every year on all these rescued horses.

We depend on our loyal supporters to help us stay afloat and keep the horses, the eating machines that they are, well fed and happy.   But this past year has been really hard.  Donations have plummeted and I have to be honest - it is scary.

I totally understand that the economy is broken, and with that comes the broken spirit of America.  How can you risk spending money when you don't even know what tomorrow will bring?  I feel the same way.

We've been very frugal and careful about Lifesavers' spending too.  We've searched for the cheapest hay that will still nourish the horses.  We've kept our overhead as low as we can.  And we are operating with fewer hands than we really need - just to get by.

So all this said - I'm asking if you can find a little extra in your pocket - under your mattress - in the cookie jar - that you can give this month to help us meet our needs.

As a token of my gratitude I would like to offer you a pony.  Yes - a little pony that you can adopt and call your own.   For a donation of $150 or more I will send  you the cutest little plush mini pony, so mini it can fit in the palm of your hand.  And, with your mini pony you will also get a certificate of adoption with your pony's name on it.  It's not much - I know - but it's something and its fun and you can keep it or give it to someone else as a stocking stuffer gift if you'd like.

We have a limited number of ponies to adopt out, so we have a dateline on this offer.  Please adopt your pony with a donation of $150.00 by December 20th - and we can get it mailed out to you by the Holiday!

$150 will feed two horses for a whole month

If you can't afford that much of a donation - I won't be disappointed, I will be happy to receive any amount at all.  Every penny, every dime, every dollar is helpful and adds up to enough to feed a horse, or 20 horses... or hopefully... 500 horses.

Your gift in any amount will be so appreciated!!!

And as a special gift here is a link to our holiday video for you to enjoy!

I will close this letter by wishing you the merriest of holidays and a spectacular new year!  And I pray that blessings abound for everyone and everything on this planet as the future unfolds.

Thank you for your continued support!

Warmest wishes,

Jill Starr

President

Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue

Remember - We need to receive your donation of $150 by December 20th so we can send you the most adorable plush mini pony and it's adoption certificate!  Thanks!
