GivingThanks

This month is when we reflect on all that we are grateful for.  I have so many to thank, and so much to be thankful for and I know exactly where I to start...

With you, one of the most important people in my life and the lives of the horses.  You have given us the breath of life that keeps our lifesaving work alive.  Through your continued support, you make it possible for Lifesavers to feed and care for the 200+ horses at our Lancaster, California headquarters, the 120 horses at our California sanctuary, and the 225 horses grazing in South Dakota on leased land.

Your support may have been a generous donation, or it may have been signing a petition to stop horse slaughter, or it might be that you are one of our special volunteers,or  maybe you are only able to share your knowledge and news of Lifesavers to others, or maybe you pray for the well being of the horses - anyway you help us...You Help Us.

You have made it possible for us to rescue a few more needy souls this year like most recently - Rains, Cora, Vannah, Teddy, Truffles and Ghirardelli.

You have shared many happy moments with us including the birth of Spring-A-Leak, Stormy Clare, Jiggy and Tennie.  We wouldn't have been able to care for these babies and their Mommas without your generous support throughout the year.

You have shared in the sad moments when we have said Good-Bye to our loved ones like Tasha who lived a long life of safety and comfort with us after her early years of abuse where she was beaten and used as a pack horse in Colorado to carry hunted Elk carcasses that weighed too much for her back to bear.

And you support Lifesavers as we build partnerships with other organizations that share our interest in utilizing the spiritual healing properties of horses in therapy programs.  The Wounded Warrior Project is one that we continue to develop new Horse Inspired Growth and Healing programs with to serve our returning soldiers who suffer from PTSD and other debilitating injuries.  As you can imagine, the horses are generating new life energies in all of the participants of these healing programs.

I am ever grateful for you and I'm sure I don't say it enough, so I just wanted to take this opportunity now to let you know that you are the foundation beneath us, our pillars of strength, and

without you we would not be able to reach the stars that we have in our sights.  Thank you for being a Lifesaver!

SANCTUARY NEWS

Our sanctuary properties (one pictured below)  in California are home to 120 of our rescued horses but we still have to feed them there as its not enough land to support full time grazing.

Our hope is that we can raise enough capitol to purchase a larger sanctuary property of no less than 2000 acres in California where grass and water will be plentiful.  We still have another 100 horses that need to be released to a natural habitat sanctuary. For now they are stuck living in community corrals at our training facility, even though they are not suitable for training and adoption.  They need to be free.
HEALING WITH HORSES

Lifesavers' Horse Inspired Growth and Healing Program continues to partner with the Wounded Warrior Project and serve veterans who returned from duty with mental, emotional and physical disabilities.  We are also partnering with Big Heart Ranch in Malibu to use their ocean view property to hold these healing workshops, and we are working together with another nonprofit horse welfare group fronted by Cheyenne Price shown here in the photo.  Cheyenne is a wonderful horsewoman and riding instructor.  In this photo Cheyenne is smiling with one of the participants during a lesson in how to make an emergency dismount from a very large Friesian horse.

ADOPTIONS

Raffle to Win Redemption:

Pre-approved adopters have the chance to win this cute mustang gelding by entering a raffle drawing.  Entry is only $25.  We will waive the $500 adoption fee for the winner of the raffle.  Redemption is a 3 year old, 14.2 hand. red roan gelding rescued from slaughter.  His herd is from the Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation in Nevada.  He is as sweet as the day is long and will make a wonderful pet or project horse for just about anyone.  He is very gentle, but still needs formal training.

Newly Adopted Horses:

Several lucky horses have found homes recently.  Among them are Jeeter, Nichols, Kamal, Angi's Baby, and Fezz.  We are so happy that adoption interest has increased and good responsible homes are opening their barn doors for our rescued horses.  If you have an interest in adoption please visit our Available Horses web page.

RESCUE

Rains - Fat and Happy

Update on Rains

As you can see she is doing amazingly well.  In just 3 short months you would never know that she was a walking skeleton abandoned in the desert to fend for herself.  Rains is living proof that the Beatles song is true:  "All you need is love"...and food. :)

Update on Tennie

Tennie is growing up fast.  Just about 3 months old now his personality is starting to show more.  He remains healthy and his crooked leg is straightening out with the help of a brace.  Soon we will allow him some play time with another foal near his age.  He has shown us that he's ready for some
action - blind or not - he wants to run and jump and kick up his heels.  Our next newsletter should show some photos of his first adventure.

DONATIONS

We recently lost one of our best friends.  Freeway was a little guy who was with us for a long time.  Freeway was suffering from Penile Cancer.  We treated him with every option the vet gave us, but to no avail.  His cancer continued to worsen and was causing him unbearable pain in the most tender of places.  There was never going to be a better day going forward for Freeway so we had to make that heartbreaking decision to let him suffer no more.

Please make a gift now in honor of our precious Freeway that will help us feed and care for all the friends he left behind at Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue.  Please click on the sentence below to make your donation.

OR...

Are you new to Lifesavers, or haven't given a donation yet, but are thinking about it?  If so, there's no better time than now to share a little love with the horses.

We are so grateful to The Coto Foundation who has pledged a grant to match any "first time" donations, from people who have never given to us before, dollar for dollar up to a total gift amount of $20,000.  This means your $10 donation will become $20.  A $100 gift will grow to $200 for any first time donation.

Remember we are in the season of giving thanks and giving gifts, so let your heart run wild like it never has before and make your very first donation to Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue because it will let us do twice the good, double the LOVE!  If you are ready to make your first donation to Lifesavers click on the sentence below.

I am ready to make my first donation to Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue.

Thank you for supporting us - You are a Lifesaver!
