As one of our most dedicated supporters, you know that last month Interior Secretary Salazar stripped Wyoming’s wolves of Endangered Species Act (ESA) protection.

As a result, last Sunday, September 30, most of Wyoming became a free fire zone for wolves.

We sent out the call to our activist network, and over 48,000 of you spoke out in support for wolves, and we are truly grateful for your support.

Thanks to your efforts, Defenders is on the frontlines and poised to challenge the rule to remove wolves from the Endangered Species Act in court. We are moving forward with the legal proceedings as quickly as we can, while also advocating at the state level for wolf protection.

It’s hard to fathom that a species can be deserving of federal protection under the Endangered Species Act on September 29, and then overnight be subject to a management plan that permits them to be shot as vermin across most of the state.

With your ongoing support, we will turn back this reckless decision.

We’ll keep you posted on the latest news in the weeks and months ahead. In the meantime, please read more about Wyoming's wolf management plan and our efforts to challenge this decision from our Rocky Mountain Regional Director Mike Leahy.
