Deadline Approaches for Wyoming Wolves
If the Obama Administration's plan for Wyoming wolves is not changed, wolves could be shot on sight in some of the state's best available wolf habitat -- even on some national forests and other public lands in Wyoming owned by the American taxpayer.
But there's still time to speak out against this terrible plan before the January 13th deadline -- and to help reach our goal of sending 100,000 comments.

Balance for Washington Wolves.
Striking a balance between protecting growing wolf populations and potential conflicts with people, Washington State officials have approved a management plan that charts a course for long-term wolf recovery in the state. Defenders supporters have sent nearly 100,000 messages to Washington's governor to jumpstart wolf recovery in the Evergreen State.
Win for Rare White Whales
A federal court upheld Endangered Species Act protections for Alaska's rare Cook Inlet beluga whales, rejecting the state's challenge of the 2008 federal listing. Defenders went to court to help ensure these whales get the protections they deserve.
Wyoming Drilling Delayed
A plan to drill oil and gas in sensitive habitat for black bears and endangered lynx has been put on hold for further review by the U.S. Forest Service. More than 60,000 Defenders supporters raised concerns about the project in the region south of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Rare Spotted Cat Spotted
A rare jaguar was seen in Southern Arizona just before Thanksgiving. It's the first confirmed sighting of a wild jaguar in the U.S. in nearly three years. According to Defenders' Craig Miller, more sightings of the elusive cats are inevitable, thanks to recovery efforts in Mexico.

On the Air Honor for Defenders
When Defenders' Mexico Program Director Juan Carlos Cantù and his wife, Maria Elena wanted to educate Mexican citizens about conservation challenges in the country, they took to the airwaves.
Now, Supervivencia, a radio broadcast funded by Defenders and hosted by Maria Elena, reaches more than 200,000 people across the country. Each week the broadcast focuses on the threats to Mexico's biodiversity.
Not only has Juan Carlos and Maria Elena's work paid off in educating the public about sea turtles, parrots and other wildlife issues, but their efforts have been recognized by Mexican officials with a “Conservation of Nature” award in Communications.
