As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week, we here at Defenders have a lot to be thankful for.

Patrick, thanks to your efforts and support, here are just a few recent wins for wildlife you helped make possible:

Bald Eagle (USFWS)
Defenders supporters helped defeat the "Extinction Rider" in Congress. This terrible provision would have gutted the landmark Endangered Species Act -- the lifeline for wildlife spiraling toward extinction.
Polar bear (USFWS)
Our legal team helped win important victories for polar bears: upholding the federal ban on the importation of trophy-hunted polar bear parts into the U.S. and winning a court ruling against a Bush-era rule that exempted regulation of greenhouse gasses and other pollutants that hurt polar bears.
Reef Shark (NOAA)
Tens of thousands of California activists and supporters from across the nation helped pass a state law banning trade in shark fins -- a move that could help put an end to the terrible practice of shark finning and save the lives of millions of sharks.
Prairie Dog (Photo: USFWS)
Defenders won a court victory barring the use of toxic Rozol to kill prairie dogs in Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, and South Dakota, helping to keep the American plains a safer place for prairie dogs -- and rare black-footed ferrets that depend on them to survive.

These victories -- and many others like them -- wouldn't have been possible without the most powerful allies we have: you and the hundreds of thousands of caring Defenders of Wildlife supporters.

You make these amazing wins for our wildlife and wild places happen -- and for that, we're most grateful.

Our wildlife still faces some enormous challenges. But with the ongoing support of dedicated supporters like you, we can face these challenges head on.

From all of us at Defenders, thank you for all you do to protect our wildlife and wild places.
