200 Rescued Horses Must Move Out of Their Shelter - Lifesavers Desperate for Help!Update***

Update on Mare and Foal Rescue of July

Last month you helped us rescue 47 mares and foals from the killer's hands.  They were days away from loading on to a truck headed for Canada where they would have been slaughtered for meat and sold to diners in Japan, France, Belgium and other Asian and European countries.

Since the rescue, over half of these mares and foals have been adopted by individuals or placed with other rescues.

Unfortunately our adoption efforts are being thwarted by the necessary relocation which has priority over all other projects now.

We are in urgent need of your help getting these recently rescued mares and foals along with the other horses that were rescued since July 2010 out of the Nevada feedlot by the end of October!

Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Advocates,

We have bad news.  The horses we rescued since last July from slaughter auctions and killer buyers in Nevada have to leave their safe place immediately.
We are holding them at an empty cattle feedlot in Fallon, Nevada as a temporary shelter while we find other options for these horses such as sanctuary or training and adoption.
However, we've been informed that the feedlot owner is set to bring 1000 cows in October and is asking us to take our horses out to make room for the cows.
This puts us in a precarious position because we don't have room at our California properties for 200 horses...yet we will have to try to squeeze them in.
Lifesavers has been actively fund raising and networking in hopes of being able to secure another sanctuary or facility where the horses could live without threat of being evicted again, but donations have dropped off so drastically this summer that we are even having trouble affording the hay to feed the horses.
Moving them from Nevada presents another costly problem.  In order for them to cross state lines they must each have a blood test done on them and health certificate filled out by a vet.  There are brand inspection fees.  And the most expenisive part of this move is "moving them".  Safe transportation will cost $5000 for every 33 horses - $30,000.
We are desperate and praying for a miracle!
As you know, we have been doing remarkable work lately in saving lives from the killers and you have been so generous to help us accomplish these history making rescues.
Now we need you to help us get these 200 horses to safety - again.
We won't be able to do it without your participation.  We will have to come up with $50,000 to get them prepared and hauled to our little 46 acre facility in Lancaster, California.  Where they will fit we don't know.
We have been desperately searching for land in South Dakota as the grass there is plentiful and the land is reasonable at about $300 per acre, but alas - we haven't been able to raise enough to do anything - we are barely able to buy enough hay to feed the Nevada horses plus the other 300 that we care for in California already at our facitlity and sanctuary properties.
Please help us move these horses safely and for the last time.  This is the worst time to try to find extra funds - I know things are tight for everyone right now, but I don't know what else to do or how to get our horses home unless you can help us.
Thank you for anything you can give.

$250 will get one horse home to Lifesavers.

We will be happy with any amount as it all will go toward the move. Even $10 will make a difference.

Many blessings,

Jill Starr, President, Lifesavers Inc.
