The House Appropriations Committee has passed a bill that threatens walruses, wolves and other wildlife.

Take Action!

Speak out for wildlife. Urge your U.S. Representative to OPPOSE the House Interior Appropriations bill.

When I was the head of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, I saw my fair share of bad Congressional bills.

But it’s been a long time since I’ve seen anything as damaging to wildlife as the legislation that passed the House Interior Appropriations Committee yesterday.

The House Interior Appropriations Bill is a Frankenstein’s monster of wildlife-killing provisions… and it’s now headed to the House floor for a vote.

Speak out for polar bears, wolves and other wildlife and wild places. Take action now to stop the House Interior Appropriations bill.

Yesterday, the House Appropriations Committee overwhelmingly passed a bill that would:

  • Stop new protections for animals at risk of extinction and the places they live. This could be disastrous for species like walruses, which are struggling to survive.
  • Prevent legal action to challenge Wyoming’s shoot-on-sight wolf plan. Hundreds of wolves could be killed and recovery of wolves in the Northern Rockies sabotaged, but the committee voted to deny people who care about wolves their day in court.
  • Prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from doing more to protect our waters and the wildlife and communities that depend on them. Pesticides are already a major threat to salmon, frogs and other wildlife. Congress should be doing more – not less – to protect our waters.
  • Significantly reduce grant programs that provide funding to states to protect declining and imperiled species and to other countries to protect migratory species that grace our lands during parts of the year.
  • Slash funding for national wildlife refuges, habitat restoration and other key conservation spending. The committee approved billions in spending cuts, which would damage our already underfunded refuges and undercut environmental protection.

… And the list goes on.

Help stop this awful bill. Please write your U.S. Representative today.

This bill represents an all-out salvo on the natural treasures that are our children’s inheritance… and it could be approved before the August congressional recess.

As a mother, I urge you to take action today and post about the attack on our environment on Facebook. As a conservationist, I implore you to write your U.S. Representative and share this action on Facebook.

Protecting our wildlife is an American value. Our wildlife is worth protecting for today and for future generations. Together, we can make a difference.
