EMERGENCY RESCUE 3 BLM Mustangs will go to slaughter on Wednesday June 1, 2011 unless we can save them first!

Smaller Font Larger Font RSS 2.0

These two black BLM mustangs, one gelding, one mare, are in danger of being sent to slaughter.  They are waiting at the Fallon, NV feedlot owned by the meat buyer for the Beauvry slaughter house in Canada.  They will ship to Canada on Wednesday unless we can give the broker $650 for each of these beautiful horses. They are said to be 5 and 6 years old, so still very young and trainable.  The previous owner adopted them from the BLM to use as a driving pair, but never got around to training them.  They were sold to the killer directly by the owner/adopter.

The mare pictured below is also a BLM horse.  We have no background or age.  We know she is pregnant.  She will also ship to slaughter along with her unborn foal on Wednesday unless we can give the killer buyer $550 for her.

Please help us rescue these innocent horses.  Time is short for them - we have very little time to raise the amount that the killers are demanding.

A total of $1850 is needed to save all three of these mustangs.

Save the mustangs from slaughter!

Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue has been fighting an ongoing battle for horses against slaughater since 1997 when we became a nonprofit organization set on making this a more humane world for horses.

During these last few years , in addition to horses saved from killer sales and the direct slaughter house pipeline, we have taken in many horses because their owners fell on hard times...not because they didn't want their horses anymore... not because the horses were old, sick or lame, but because the economy forced them to let go of their large pets.

All of our rescued horses were in danger of going to slaughter if we had not been able to take them.

They would have been shipped to Canada or Mexico, where horse slaughter is still legal, in overcrowded trailers without food or water sometimes taking several days to get there.

The hungry, thirsty, exhausted, and likely injured horses would have been funneled through chutes slippery from urine, feces and blood, until they came to the end of the line where a hurried operator of the captive bolt gun would aim for the little diamond area on the forehead of a panicky writhing horse....only to miss the mark the first few times.

And very possibly in anger the operator might just decide to shoot the horse in the neck where it would sever its spine rendering it paralyzed, but not unconscious.  You know the rest....

But this did not happen to the horses rescued by Lifesavers.  We make promises to our horses to care for them and watch over them as long as it takes to find them a loving home who will also make that promise.

In some cases our rescued horses will never find another home, but will live out their precious lives at one of our sanctuaries in peace, tranquility and harmony - as nature meant for them.

Lifesavers has over 650 horses to feed and care for every day.

Your support is the only reason we are able to do this.
