***DEADLINE MAY 5th: Take Action to Save Millions of Migratory Birds!***

Millions of birds needlessly die during their annual migration. But many of these deaths could be prevented with new rules to prevent bird collisions with communications towers and other structures.

Take action now. Urge the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to adopt proposed strong rules to reduce bird deaths from communications structures.

Each year, an estimated 5 million birds meet an untimely death as they collide with these structures -- including at least 230 species like cerulean warblers, black rails and other species in decline.

For more than a decade, we've been working to reduce needless deaths of migratory birds from communications structures. Now the FCC has finally proposed new rules for the Antenna Structure Registration -- based largely on the recommendations of Defenders and our partners. These new rules would require public notice of proposed towers and require environmental assessments of towers over 450 feet.

The FCC needs to hear from you. Please write the commissioners today and urge them to adopt these historic rules to prevent the deaths of millions of migratory birds.

The FCC proposal wouldn't have been possible without the nearly 70,000 messages caring individuals like you have sent over the past several years. We're now in the home stretch to ensure a safer journey for millions of migratory birds.

Please hurry -- the comment period ends tomorrow, so take action now, so we can deliver your message.
