Impeach Salazar and Abbey

What we have asked them to do in this regard has not been unreasonable in any way. We have simply called for the stoppage — or a moratorium — on wild horse and burro roundups until an investigation into the handling of the Wild Horse & Burro Program can be carried out.

Instead, the roundup, incarceration and sale (called adoption) have been conducted at a mind boggling, accelerated pace.

Wild horse and burro advocates, together with thousands of concerned citizens, have bombarded the White House, the U.S. Congress, and every Government Agency connected with this issue, calling on them to please stop and re-evaluate what they are allowing to happen to our mustangs and burros. It has sadly, tragically, and without exception, fallen on deaf ears.

Lawsuits have been filed by groups and individuals, also to no avail.

Dead Mustang Foal

BLM know how to kill foals. Here is an image of a dead foal from a previous BLM roundup conducted out of season. Source and photographer unknown.

Although we have been considering citizen impeachment of Salazar and Abbey since late last year and early this year, we have been persuaded by various authorities and politicians to hold fire, that a moratorium was imminent, and that taking this type of action might jeopardize it happening. Well, we see how that all turned out.

After the apparent perjured testimony before a federal Judge in one of the recent lawsuits filed against the Bureau of Land Management, as well as many other related underhanded and similarly unpunished criminal activities related to the helicopter mustang roundups in Nevada, it finally made me say, let’s just to do it.

It is my opinion, based on what I have seen and heard, that Salazar, Abbey and company need to not only be removed from office for their heinous treatment of our wild horses and burros, but also prosecuted, convicted and sent to jail.

This is our intention when filing Citizen Impeachment papers next week. I hope you will join us by signing on to a letter saying that you support this cause of action.

Here is the link if you wish to do so.

We will be posting the cover letter for the impeachment papers, which is not quite finished yet, here next week.

There is also a donation button there. It would be a great help to us to have all the funding we need going in to fight against the cruel treatment, death and destruction of our wild horses and burros, and to preserve them where they belong . . . running wild and free on their protected lands.
