Hunters enduring ongoing harassment from wolf advocates
Robert, who is worried other hunters will be subjected to all of this, created a blog where he posts e-mails and letters he’s received.
“I figured the best way to get the people to back off sending me all this stuff is to expose it to everybody,” he said. From “gutless pansy” to “fat redneck” Millage has heard it all. Someone even coined him "The Extinctinator." On the phone Monday he says he fears the list of successful wolf hunters the State of Idaho released will subject 121 of his fellow hunters to the same harassment he’s faced.“The extreme environmental groups, they are some of the worst domestic terrorists in the country, so basically our state handed out a target list to them, that’s the way I look at it,” he said. The list was posted online by Boise wolf advocate Rick Hobson. Hobson says the public has a right to know the names of those harvesting wolves.“Hunters are not the only one that should have a say in this,” Hobson said.He hopes the list fosters a conversation about wolf hunting. Hobson says thousands of people from all over the country have viewed the list of hunters and although Hobson doesn’t wish harassment on any of the hunters he says he knows it will happen.“There are good people out there too who will use this information constructively to outreach to people,” Hobson said.In Robert Millage’s case, having endured months of harassment there’s nothing constructive about the approach many have taken so far.Photo Courtesy: Idaho Statesman
