2.9-magnitude earthquake reported near Chamberlain (SD)

A 2.9-magnitude earthquake was reported 17 miles southeast of Chamberlain on Friday afternoon, according to the USGS.

The quake occurred at 2:39 p.m. According to the USGS, a 2.9-magnitude quake can be felt by some people, but won't cause damage to buildings.

In December, a 3.5-magnitude quake was reported in Custer State Park.
