This will turn out to be one of the largest manmade disasters of all time. As the acceleration of the hole size increases, so to will the challenges to repair the damage. Also, if the hole cannot be successfully arrested from increasing in size, it will eventually not be possible to do so by any known human means, thus necessitating a burn off of the material that is causing the soil to liquefy.
I don't surmise that the mutton heads who caused this with their fracking operations, will be able to do much about the eventual end result of this ever expanding sinkhole, in which case, earths natural remedy for healing such a skin lesion will be forthwith dispatched to the infected area, pretty much guaranteeing the end of human habitation over a not insignificant track of land for generations to come.
It will come down to who strikes the match. . . man or nature. ~Rod Remelin
