October 14, 2011 – Papua New Guinea – A 6.7 magnitude struck off the coast of Eastern Papua New Guinea. The earthquake struck at a depth of 45.4 km (28.2 miles). The epicenter of the earthquake was 103 km (64 miles) E of Lae, New Guinea, PNG and was 2372 km (1473 miles) NNW of BRISBANE, Queensland, Australia. The earthquake is just the latest in a series of sizable earthquakes that have rattled areas in the Ring of Fire in the South Pacific over the last 45 days. –The Extinction Protocol
