I live and work in Seattle, Washington -- right at the foot of the US continent's largest volcano, Mount Rainier. Actually there is a whole host of volcanoes along the Cascadia Range. I might mention the Seattle area is not unfamiliar with large earthquakes. So why would I stay here? Because of the people, the community, the tribe. It is a progressive area where hiking and living outdoors is almost a right-of-passage. Along with this wide assortment of activities, comes an enormous amount of 'equipment' suited for such. In other words - sustainability.
Along with this, at least in my circle, comes a wealth of knowledge of the coming changes. But let me say -- even those of us with a keen awareness of what may be coming, will still be prone to shock and even bewilderment. One can never be too sure of their reaction. Remember the notes on PTSD. This suggest even those of us who have been through traumatic experience before, may take some time to regain their balance. This is why a healthy community is so important. Although one of us may be weak in any given moment, the other will be strong and carry us through.
All Eyes May Be Looking in the Wrong Place
I have reason to believe the area which will be hit most severely will not be the more suspected ones. Right now most eyes are on California. The San Andres Fault has been acting out as of late, and has many geologist and seismologist on their toes.

Another popular area of concern is the Banda Sea which could affect Indonesia, Sumatra, Philippines, Australia and New Zealand. Just today a 7.8 mag. quake hit near New Zealand creating a small tsunami. But this still is not where my hunch lays.
