
5.8 Earthquake Hits Near Downtown Los Angels

Although this 5.8 moderate quake is certainly something to be concerned about; but this may be only the beginning of something more.
Reports of damage or injuries are not yet established. Power and phone line outages have occurred. More is coming in over the wires. The quake's epicenter was about 2 miles southwest of Chino Hills and about 5 miles southeast of Diamond Bar, the USGS said. Chino Hills is about 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. **Several aftershocks have occurred measuring between 2.7 and 3.8. More are likely.
Could this event be part of unfolding events occurring along the 'ring of fire'? I continue to keep a vigilant eye on the "Cascadia Subduction Zone". This is where the largest and most dangerous seismic event will likely occur. Magnitudes of 9.0 or larger are expected sending a large tsunami across the Pacific.
