The House Judiciary Committee recently voted to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt, and the House speaker, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has not decided whether or not she will hold a full vote.

But he’s the top law enforcer in the nation, and “Barr doesn’t seem to scared of Nancy Pelosi right now.”

That’s from Twitter news aggregator Twitchy after the two reportedly exchanged words on Wednesday.

Barr’s words?

“Madam speaker, did you bring your handcuffs?”

And hers?

“No need, there a House sergeant at arms to do what I ask.”

Today at a law enforcement ceremony at Capitol:

AG Barr approached Pelosi, shook her hand: "Madam Speaker, did you bring your handcuffs?"

Pelosi smiled and, per a bystander, told Barr the House Sergeant at Arms was there should an arrest be needed. Barr laughed; walked away

The Hill reported the exchange came while both were waiting for President Trump’s arrival at the annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service.

“As those seated on the platform waited for the president’s arrival in an adjacent tent, Attorney General Barr approached Speaker Pelosi, shook her hand and said loudly, ‘Madam Speaker, did you bring your handcuffs?'” a bystander told The Hill.

“The speaker, not missing a beat, smiled and indicated to the attorney general that the House sergeant-at-arms was present at the ceremony should an arrest be necessary. The attorney general chuckled and walked away,” the bystander added, reported the Hill.

Democrats in Congress have been fuming that Barr refused to follow their orders to turn over an unredacted Mueller report along with underlying materials on now-discredited claims the Trump 2016 campaign colluded with Russia.

Barr, in fact, is prevented by law from releasing any grand jury materials.

Some Democrats even have suggested jailing members of the Trump administration who don’t do their bidding.

“Pelosi recently joked during a Washington Post Live event that there is “a little jail down in the basement of the Capitol, but if we were arresting all of the people in the administration, we would have an overcrowded jail situation,” the Hill reported.

Meanwhile, however, Barr and others are investigating who started the Russia collusion investigation and whether or not the spying that the Obama administration did on the Trump campaign was justified.

There also is the issue of Obama FBI and DOJ officials who sought to prevent a Trump presidency from leaking sensitive information. And presenting knowingly false information to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to spy on the Trump campaign.
