Dear JS:
Thank you for writing. To get your life together, you must start by forgiving yourself of all your past errors and wrong doing. Your second step is to bring balance in all your relationships. Start by forgiving all those, who have wronged you or hurt you in any way. Then you must try to make amends with all that you have wronged or hurt in any way.
Yes, I said all! Go to them and sincerely apologize and ask them to forgive you. No matter their response, you have now left the ball in their court. It now becomes their karma. There may be some people with whom you cannot possibly make contact. In your heart forgive them or ask for their forgiveness as the case may be.
Having done this, it is now time to take your third and final step. Ask Creator Go to forgive you for all your wrong doing and errors of the past. Do this in sincerity and believe that you are forgiven, and it is so. Then drop all the baggage of the past and move on. Believe that you are free to create a new life, that you are no longer lazy, and that you have no use for drugs.
Whatever you set your mind on to do, you have the power through your God Spirit within to do. Learn to be quiet and think, meditate, and speak to Creator God through your thoughts. His Spirit lives within you, as your God Spirit, and has all the answers to your questions. Just ask and listen/feel the answer. You will know the answer.
Remember, that you are a fragment, a spark of the Light of Creator Source. Therefore, you have all the power of Creator at your disposal. Also, you have at least two Guardian Angels assigned to you at birth, who are constantly with you until your physical death. Their job is to help you along your pathway to Truth and goodness. They are with you to help you, but they cannot do anything unless you ask for their help. Cosmic Laws prevents them from trespassing on your freewill.
Know that Creator God and all of Heaven stand ready to help you. Your call compels their answer. May you find Light and hope and joy in your pathway, my friend. You are never alone in life's struggles.
