Schriever air base space wing gets new commander

SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo.-The 50th Space Wing at Schriever (SHREE\'-ver) Air Force Base is getting a new commander.
Col. James P. Ross will assume command of the wing from Col. Wayne Monteith (mon-TEETH\') in a ceremony on Friday.
The 50th Space Wing is responsible for operating and supporting more than 170 Defense Department satellites.
Ross was previously vice commander of the 45th Space Wing at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla.
Monteith is becoming vice director of the Defense Department\'s Executive Agent for Space Staff at the Pentagon.
Schriever is just east of Colorado Springs.
