Fancy taking up astronomy but lack access to a nearby observatory or high-spec equipment? Fear not, you can make a decent go of studying celestial objects with nothing more than a mid-range camera.
YouTuber Naturbeobachtungen von Lothar Lenz (German for “Nature observation of Lothar Lenz”) used a Nikon Coolpix P900, a camera that retails for around £500, to zoom in on the moon. All the way in, right down to crater level.
Lenz’s 89-second clip, originally uploaded at the end of March but going viral since Reddit user moumouren posted it, manages to deliver the kind of visuals for which humanity used to have to send satellites into space.
The video is even more impressive for being shot in the daylight, with the moon relatively low in the sky. Look closely, and you’ll even be able to spot the moon actually moving across the sky while Lenz holds the shot.
The camera itself has an extraordinary 83x optical zoom lens, which allows it to get that “close” to our nearest space neighbour. Considering the moon is roughly 238,900 miles away, that’s no mean feat for a handheld device the size of the P900.
The rest of Lenz’s nature video work is worth a look too, where the zoom factor goes downwards, giving a glimpse of the hidden world of animals and insects around us on Earth.

Right now we have a camera that can video the planes spraying the Stratospheric Aerosol Geoengineering spew into the air. So please if someone wants to be serious about exposing chemtrails then they should be using these cameras to expose the aircraft involved.
