Monsanto Doesn't Want You to Know What's in Your Food

Send a Message to Your U.S. Rep: Vote NO on Monsanto's Dream bill — H.R. 1599!

Dear Patrick,

The House of Representatives could vote this week on a bill that would block state efforts to label genetically engineered foods (GMOs).1

This is Monsanto's Dream Bill. We're calling it the DARK Act (Denying Americans the Right to Know), because that's exactly what this is about. Monsanto wants to keep us in the dark about what we're eating because they're worried that GMO labels will allow consumers to make more informed choices about what they buy at the grocery store. You know there's something wrong when companies don't want you to know what's in their products.

If you think that consumers should have the right to know what's in the food we eat — tell Rep. Noem to vote NO on H.R. 1599!

This terrible bill would allow companies that make and use GMOs to continue to keep quiet about them, and states that have already passed GMO labeling laws could be prevented from implementing their laws to require labels.

This is about consumer choice. Despite Monsanto's favorite talking points, there is no scientific consensus about the safety of genetically engineered crops,2 and the World Health Organization recently asserted that the harsh pesticide that most GMO crops are engineered to withstand is a "probable human carcinogen."3

We all deserve the right to know what's in the food we eat and feed our families. Send your message in support of labeling!

In fact, over 90 percent of Americans support the labeling of GMOs.4 But since H.R. 1599 was introduced, the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), an industry group that represents corporations like Monsanto, Nestlé and Dow, has been lobbying hard to move this bill forward. Unless we weigh in, our members of Congress could side with these special interests over their constituents.

Make sure your member of Congress knows where you stand before the House vote this week — Send a message to vote NO on Monsanto's Dream Bill.

Thanks for taking action,
