(NaturalNews) For several years now, Hawaii has been having hearings regarding the implementation of labeling GMOs. We have had Neighborhood Board meetings, Legislative hearings, and, of late, City Council hearings. Anything involving government officiality has always been lip service.

 

Recently, the City Council hearings have been exciting, although unproductive. That reason being that most of our City Council people are actually "hookers" for Monsanto, having accepted campaign contributions from them and not wanting to bite the hand that feeds them.

 

The last hearing was one for the books. Thirty people for labeling showed up to testify. None opposed. That in itself told us that the fix was in. All thirty testified passionately, including a 9-year-old boy. Also cited was the fact that Kaiser Permanente has come out publicly telling people not to eat GMOs.

 

The Council comments were unbelievable. Nestor Garcia asked why only 30 people showed up if it were so important, and if Kaiser said what they said how come they didn't show up to testify?

 

Then, Stanly Chang began receiving accolades for introducing a Bill to remove cigarette butts from the beach. Yet, when it came time to vote no against labeling GMOs, he could not raise his hand fast enough.

 

Their final vote was 3 in favor, 6 opposed.

 

While testimonies were going on, the Chairman - Ernie Martin - said that labeling should be handled on the Federal level. When it was my turn to testify I changed my testimony from the one I submitted, which is at the end of all this.

I said that Councilman Chang is getting patted on the back for wanting to get cigarette butts off the beach, but when it comes to safeguarding the people from pesticide poisoning, cancer, birth defects, DNA damage, embryonic deaths, and other debilitating illnesses, you all could care less.

 

When Councilman Martin says labeling should be handled Federally, he knows full well that Obama, when campaigning in 2008, promised he would label GMOs if elected. Instead, when elected, he appointed "Monsanto Mike" Taylor, a former Monsanto Attorney, as the U.S. Food Czar, and appointed Tom Vilsack, another Monsanto cronnie, as the Secretary of Agriculture. In addition, Clarence Thomas, a Supreme Court Judge, also was a Monsanto attorney.

 

I concluded by saying that you all got elected BY the people. Yet, you worry more about not biting the hand that feeds you than keeping the people safe. I then asked if they would buy food if there were no labels whatsoever on them. If they did not know the calorie content, the fat content, the sodium content, the sugar content, the artificial colors, the artificial sweeteners, all the synthetics, and all the ingredients, would they still buy it? I said that you all jump on the Monsanto bandwagon about the GMO labeling raising the price of food, but how come food prices never went up when the other labels were placed upon them? So, how come if a GMO containing food has a label on it indicating such, would the price go up? I concluded by asking if we would ever see a politician that when elected would implement decisions on behalf OF and FOR the people?

 

The reply was: Next testifier. They could care less.

 

So, why not have some fun? I will list the good guys and the bad guys and how to reach them. Please do so, no holds barred and bury them. Make it an issue they will never forget.

Here's my submitted testimony:

 

The last time I looked the Constitution of the United States gave us Freedom of Choice. But, Freedom of Choice can only manifest if we are aware of our choices. Because Monsanto feels monetarily threatened by labeling GMOs they induce our government officials to support their non-labeling agenda by paying them off via so-called "campaign contributions". What it is, is graft so those that receive it will not bite the hand that feeds them. Because of this, our elected politicians pull a "Sandusky" on the people that elected them. In addition, Monsanto blatantly lies by saying that GMOs are safe, when numerous independent scientific reports say otherwise. Monsanto also lies when the say it will raise food prices by labeling them. Look at all the information that appears on labels today - calorie content, fat content, sodium content, sugar content, ingredients, etc. What's interesting is that prices never really rose when this labeling occurred. My question to you is simple: Do you appreciate the information found on the food you purchase or would you prefer to buy food that has no labels whatsoever on it? And if you appreciate the label information, is it worth selling your integrity for a few bucks just so Monsanto can continue to exploit the people by depriving them of their Constitutional right of Freedom of Choice?
