I am not proposing this explanation, but the question naturally arises and poses itself. If my articles – all of which were written well before the Haitian earthquake– contribute to the debate, then so be it. Nevertheless, much of what is generically called Voodoo seems to stand out as an inspiration to more than a few evildoers, criminal sects and gangs. I begin with a fair and balanced exploration of a group of ancient pagan faiths arising in West Africa. But as you will see, I soon found myself moving way beyond all of that!
