Never one to hold back when it comes to corrupt big government agencies, former Congressman Ron Paul said Tuesday that the world would be a much better place if the CIA were completely abolished.

Responding in part to the release of the Summary of the forthcoming Senate report on CIA torture, and also to an impending possible government shutdown, Paul stated [1] “my government shutdown would be something to be proud of.”

“Abolish the NSA, the TSA, the CIA and all spying on American citizens.” Paul urged.

Referring to actual government shutdowns as “mediocre PR stunts,” the former Congressman also said that if he had his way, both the IRS and the Federal Reserve would be shut down.

“Spending would stop, no federal printing presses and no stolen money from the people would end entitlements, which mostly go to the rich.” Paul stated.

Paul also called for all foreign stationed US troops to be brought home.

“And all of our wars—we would come home from the 150 countries where we have troops stationed.” Paul said.

The former congressman also this week questioned the motives [2] of both the President and Senator John McCain in saying they oppose torture.

“I think both President Obama and Senator McCain are being disingenuous and selective in their opposition to torture.” Paul wrote.

“Both Senator McCain and President Obama take the moral high ground with regard to CIA torture, but both are enthusiastic supporters of past and current US military interventions that have the same effect on millions.” Paul elaborated in the piece.

In an appearance on RT back in August, Paul spoke more extensively regarding the CIA torture report.

“The American government is like almost every government that has existed throughout history. They do not want to tell the people the truth, its always deceptions and deceiving the people and lying to the people.” Paul declared.

Paul has previously called for the abolition of the CIA. In a piece titled “End Torture, Shut Down the CIA.” from July, Paul stated, “Far from keeping us safer, CIA covert actions across the globe have led to destruction of countries and societies and unprecedented resentment toward the United States. For our own safety, end the CIA!”
