We recently shared with you the heartbreaking story of Noura Hussein, a young Sudanese teenager who was forced to marry a man who raped her, a man she killed in self-defense.
For her actions, Noura was sentenced to death by hanging. But millions of people around the world fought to save her life — and it worked. Noura’s death sentence was overturned.
While this is incredible progress, Noura is now facing five years behind bars for killing the man who raped her — and the family of Noura’s husband, insisting on the death sentence, are planning to appeal.
