THE TPP FIGHT IS JUST GETTING STARTED

Before taking off for their Fourth of July recess, 13 Senate Democrats sided with the Chamber of Commerce, Wall Street and Big Pharma by voting to authorize “fast-track” authority for the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
It was a brutal fight. Passage required parliamentary maneuvers and a re-vote.
Now, after a final round of deal-making with the corporations, they will bring the whole (still-secret) TPP trade deal up for a vote. Congress cannot amend or substantially debate the text. Which is a problem because Americans hate this deal.
Campaign for America’s Future showed the TPP for what it is: An early Christmas present for every corporation that wants to pollute with impunity and ship jobs overseas.
We have to stop this. There’s no time to feel sorry for ourselves. The consequences are too grave. We must raise the alarm.
The Campaign for America’s Future is organizing progressive groups and allies in Congress (even some conservatives). We will continue to distribute educational materials and petitions. We will inundate Congress with letters and phone calls.
