I'm Luis Vasquez of the organization Low Pay Is Not OK, and I started a petition to McDonald's, which says:

Reinstate fired McDonald's worker Heather Levia with back pay and a raise. She was fired for paying for firefighters' meals after they spent all night in freezing temperatures. Helping first responders shouldn't be punished—it should be praised.

Heather was a loyal McDonald's employee for eight years in Olean, New York. She is currently putting herself through nursing school while caring for twins.

One night during her shift, firefighters came to recuperate after battling a blaze in freezing temperatures throughout the night. Because she values her community and the people who keep it strong, Heather spent over $80 of her own money to pay for the firefighters' meals.

For Heather's altruism, McDonald's rewarded her by firing her. Stand with Heather. Call on McDonald's to do the right thing and reinstate her.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!
