Reports from D.C. indicate Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is plotting to replace the mandatory spending reductions known as "sequestration" with job-destroying tax hikes.
Senator Reid may try to ram his tax-and-spend legislation through the Senate as early as next week.
Under the so-called "draconian" sequestration plan, spending will increase by $1.6 trillion over the next ten years - instead of by the planned increase of $1.7 trillion.
Yet even these phony cuts are too much for the spending addicts on Capitol Hill!
They would rather cripple the economy further with more tax hikes than even begin to slow the rate of the growth of spending!
I learned during my years in Congress that the only thing that will force the big spenders and big taxers to back down is pressure from constituents.

After all, right now, politicians in both parties are running around screaming the sky will fall if these supposedly "draconian" sequester "cuts" are allowed to occur.
Here's what they're afraid of . . .
Should the sequester take place, instead of ramping up spending $1.7 TRILLION over the next 10 years, the sequester will mean spending only increases by . . . $1.6 TRILLION!
Even the "massive" cuts to our national defense that are supposed to leave our national security so vulnerable to enemy attacks are a crock.
Without sequestration, defense spending is supposed to increase by 20% in ten years. With it? An 18% increase.
While it would not address our $16.5 TRILLION debt, studies show if the statists would just agree to hold federal spending at 2.5% annual increases, the budget would be balanced in ten years!
But instead of even those token "cuts," the politicians are looking to raise taxes yet again!
And after you and I have seen the GOP congressional leadership roll over on so many important issues in recent months, I'm afraid the taxers could once again get their way.
That's why if liberty-minded Americans are serious at all about saving our country, you and I have to prove to our legislators they can't get away with this kind of nonsense.
